The end of summer

It's hard to believe that the summer is almost over. Our month of August was great - we had some vacation time, some R&R, lots of time together, and had the opportunity to finish a few projects around the house. We are feeling more ready for the baby, the room is organized, and our headspace is getting prepared for the new addition. Kai has had a few transitions to deal with - he's now in daycare 3 days/week (and is loving it and Vineeta his caregiver), and is sleeping in a twin bed. He's adjusted to the changes and really seems to love his friends and the activities at the daycare (including dancing to Indian music and eating curries for lunch!) Kai now loves swimming and water, at the beginning of the summer he winced and whined when swimming (and in the bath), but after taking him to the pool regularly, he now loves it, jumps off the side, likes going underwater, and will wade in up to his neck. He's also on his tummy for baths (hence this pic), which is a big step forward considering that previously he never even sat down in the tub.

I'm feeling well, am getting BIG and quite uncomfortable but nothing unusual... The baby is extremely active (at times jarring) and, I think, getting ready for the big day. I can't quite imagine getting much bigger, but I still have 4 weeks to go until my due date.

Rod too is well, his work really slowed down in August and will be quite manageable for the fall. He's been enjoying lots of time with Kai, and Kai has become quite a "daddy's boy", often requesting him (rather than me, sniff sniff!) for stories or bathtime.

That's all for now... Happy Labour Day weekend everyone!
